April Fishing Report
April Fishing was Hot!!! It is only going to get hotter.
The Red Drum (Redfish) are starting to scatter out in the marshes of Emerald Isle and Swansboro. The fish are hungry and actively seeking food. You can find Reds in the marshes and bays anywhere from the Emerald Isle bridge to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, and catch the Redfish on artificial, cut and live bait on the bottom. The reds are also falling for top-water plugs early in the morning and late evening.
The Big Blue Fish have been in the creeks and bays near the inlets. You can hook a large blue casting soft plastics to them or trolling shallow divers. A few have been caught on cut bait in the marsh bays at high tide as well.
The Flounder bite is getting better and better everyday. Finding a hungry Flounder on a marsh flat while red fishing has been a common occurrence. The fish have been biting gulp baits on a jig head.
The sea mullet bite is still solid in the area. Using a bottom rig with some clam bites is the key to these tasty creatures.
